On 18th October 2023, Esset Property Management joined over 80 other organisations that have signed voluntary charters to promote energy efficiency in commercial buildings, in the presence of the French Minister for Energy Transition, Agnès Pannier-Runacher.
This initiative, supported by the Plan Bâtiment Durable and ADEME (the French Environment and Energy Management Agency), aims to escalate and perpetuate mobilisation initiated by the France’s 2022 energy sobriety plan. The commitment to energy efficiency is part of the national objective of reducing energy consumption by 2050 (French Tertiary Decree) and the European objective of reducing greenhouse gases to tackle climate change.
In practical terms, Esset Property Management commits to promoting and implementing energy-saving measures in its own premises and on managed sites. There are three types of action:
- Quick-wins: easy and/or quick actions which pay for themselves via immediate savings through less energy consumption;
- Opportunities: specific actions triggered by opportunities such as equipment at the end of life, subsidies, and new regulations;
- Voluntary actions: these are model energy-saving actions which require initial investment and aim for significant return on investment in the medium or long term. These actions also increase the value of the real estate portfolio.
